World Map

The global framework of Play for Peace is comprised of regional hubs, partner organizations, local institutions and representatives. Currently, Play for Peace is active in 5 regions: Guatemala, India, the Middle East, North America and Northern Ireland.

Guatemala

Play for Peace - Guatemala brings together youth from indigenous Mayan and Latino communities. The Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) is the official hub for Play for Peace - Guatemala. Through CECI, Play for Peace also partners with FUNDAJU-SODEJU (translated as Foundation for Youth) in working with 5 different local institutions in the country of Guatemala.

India

Play for Peace - India has worked to make significant improvements in the areas of child labor, education and community relations. Partnering with the Shavishav volunteer organization, Play for Peace works with youth of diverse religious and social backgrounds. Through their joint efforts, thousands of former child laborers and non-school going children are now entered into mainstream schools.

Middle East

Play for Peace - Middle East works to heal the long-standing wounds and cultural tension of the region by engaging Arabs, Muslims and Christians in a joint dialogue program. Play sessions are designed to prevent violence through improved communication and problem solving skills among children of different backgrounds. The Jerusalem International YMCA is the official hub of Play for Peace - Middle East.

North America

In North America, Play for Peace has two regional operations: Play for Peace - Chicago and Play for Peace - Clinton.

Play for Peace - Chicago is part of the Chicago Teachers' Center (CTC), an academic unit within Northeastern Illinois University's College of Education. As the hub organization, the CTC is active in creating cross-cultural harmony and developing leadership opportunities among the diverse student population of Chicago's public high schools.

Play for Peace - Clinton is located in the central region of the state of Illinois. To combat violence in the community, high school students work with elementary school students as part of an early intervention program. Illinois State University (ISU) acts as the hub organization. Play for Peace - Clinton also partners with the Coalition for Nonviolent Communities and the Chicago, Illinois staff of Play for Peace.

Northern Ireland

Play for Peace - Northern Ireland focuses on delivering non-competitive, team building games to youth of different religious and ethnic backgrounds. Three colleges, Hazelwood Integrated College, Slemish Integrated College and North Coast Integrated College, serve as the hub organization for Northern Ireland. Youth facilitators from each college conduct play sessions in local primary schools.
