Play for Peace children in India

Play for Peace has established a number of partnerships in states throughout the region.

Gujarat

Ahmedabad

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) – Funding Agency counting on us as a resource partner for their partner community based organizations (CBO’s)

Oxfam GB (India) - Funding agency helping its partner CBO’s through our process to reach out to children.

Xavier’s Social Service Society- Our first partner in Gujarat since May 2002, 3 months after one of the worst episodes of communal violence the country has seen since independence.

Kaira Social Service Society- A CRS partner with a youth group that is now
using Play for Peace, everyday in its work.

Saath – One of our first partners that runs community schools and has more then 25 teachers trained in Play for Peace.

Sahyog – Works in one of the worst hit area of Ahmedabad.

Baroda

Olakh – An organization working specifically with women's issues that took the challenge of addressing the communal issue in their community work in a city that as not breathed free after the 2002 communal clashes.

Himmatnagar

Sramjeevi Samaj, Bhiloda – An OXFAM partner, a trade union of landless laborers.

Manav Kalyan Trust, Lambadia – Organization that started a community center for Youth and children and through OXFAM we train their youth and children.

World Center for Creative Learning (WCCL) – A foundation committed to promote use of art based therapies.

National Center for Advocacy Studies (NCAS) – a resource center dedicated to improve and introduce right based approach in the work of community organizations, and funding agencies.

Confederation of Voluntary Association (COVA) – The first partner of Play for Peace in India.

Henri Martin Institute (HMI) – an organization that works actively as a resource center for mediation and conflict prevention resource center.

Bal Tejassu- an Action Aid Partner working with street children and orphanages.

Modern Architect for Rural India (MARI) – An organization working with some of the remotest and underdeveloped communities.

Dream A Dream – working with orphanages and underprivileged children. A group of enthusiastic youth from corporate world who take out time to improve the quality of life for children who have nothing.

Rajasthan

Seva Mandir, Karawara – a village bordering state of Gujarat and thus vulnerable to communal violence. OXFAM called us there to help their partner run a community center for youth and children.

Union Territory (State) - Andman & Nicobar Islands – the remotest part of the country 1800 Kilometers East from the main land India that saw large devastation from Tsunami.

Port Blair

Catholic Relief Services, Save the Children, UNICEF and a local organization ACANI came together to start working with children across the 70 islands that have suffered from Tsunami. The plan is to start an activity center for children in around 330 villages. For this purpose they have identified Youth from the local communities to run the activity center. They have asked Play for Peace to train these youth to work with children and to run the activity centers.

Kerala

Quilon

Quilon Social Service Society- they called us through CRS to train 16 volunteers in Play Therapy. The training was conducted in a relief camp for the victims of Tsunami disaster. This is Recognition of therapeutic value of PFP and its wider application in many areas of work with youth and children. Play for Peace remains mission-focused within the context of this project.
