Play for Peace Chicago
Since December of 1996, Place for Peace - Chicago has partnered with Northeastern Illinois University. Within the university's College of Education, the Chicago Teachers' Center (CTC)serves as the hub organization for Play for Peace - Chicago. The CTC works with many schools, community organizations, religious institutions and public agencies throughout the city to promote harmony.
In Chicago's schools, even those that are mixed racially or culturally, segregation among students and gang involvement are major concerns. The CTC works to create cross-cultural understanding among diverse high school students by developing youth leadership capacities. Play for Peace - Chicago helps train high school students to lead cooperative games among elementary school students and provides experiential learning-based leadership camps.
