About Chicago, Illinois

Located in the state of Illinois and on the western shore of Lake Michigan, Chicago is the largest city in the Midwest. The city can be divided into 4 main areas: Downtown, the North Side, the South Side and the West Side. Within these four sections, over 200 different neighborhoods exist with many distinct ethnic communities.

Large immigrant populations tend to concentrate in separate neighborhoods, creating homogeneous pockets of ethnic, racial or religious groups. This segregation is apparent in most of Chicago's schools. Play for Peace - Chicago is active in the city's schools and offers relationship-building activies to the general public.
