About Clinton, Illinois

Located in the heart of Central Illinois, Clinton is 161 miles southwest of Chicago and 45 miles northeast of Springfield, the state capital. This small city of approximately 7,500 residents is in one of the most productive agricultural areas of the United States. While farming is a significant part of the community, Clinton also has a variety of industry and manufacturing to maintain economic stability.

Clinton holds annual family and community oriented events that attract many visitors, such as the Apple and Pork Festival and the May Days Festival. During May through October, the Clinton Area Farmers and Artisans Market is held, featuring organic and heirloom fruits and vegetables, the work of juried artists from the Illinois Arts Council and local musicians.

The city of Clinton also has sites of historical interest. During the 1840s, for example, Abraham Lincoln had a law office in downtown Clinton.
