School Participation

If your school is in Bartlett and the surrounding area (i.e. Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Elgin, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Roselle, Schaumberg, South Elgin, Streamwood) we are asking you and your school community to join our school participation program. This effort entails spreading the word about the event in your community and encouraging local families to take part in our World Peace Day Glow Run 5K. Not only is the event family-friendly, with engaging, fun activities for all ages, it is a great opportunity to teach children in your school community about World Peace Day and the work Play for Peace is doing to help fellow children around the world.

As a thank you, we're giving back! 5% of all your school’s family/individual registrations and fundraising dollars earned will benefit the Illinois school parent association of your choice.

About Play for Peace

Play for Peace is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. Our mission is to bring children, youth, and organizations together in communities in conflict, using cooperative play to create laughter, compassion and peace. We have 3,000 members in 40 countries around the world. We train and support young leaders to lead peace education programs for children and organize community service projects. These young leaders inspire compassion in action among the children in our Play for Peace Clubs and build friendships with peers across ethnic, social, economic and religious divides. We aim to eradicate division and violence by sowing seeds of peace in society through laughter, cooperative play and service among children and youth, and the positive effects ripple out to families and communities as well.

About World Peace Day

World Peace Day is another name for the International Day of Peace, which was declared by the United Nations to be observed every year on September 21. The U.N. conceived it as a day of global cease-fire for conflicts around the world, and it is observed through community service, celebration, and reflection on what it means to live in a peaceful world. The Glow Run is Play for Peace’s local World Peace Day celebration in Chicagoland, and our way of joining in the global observance of this day of peace.
