“Play for Peace is successful because it puts a sense of purpose and meaning within a young individual by empowering him/her through play.”
Irvin Torralba just finished a contract as a Rope Technician for Japan Gas Co. based in Ras Laffan, Qatar. Previous to this, he has worked within the Adventure Education Industry for 14 years in various locations, including Philippines, Hong Kong, USA, and New Zealand.
Irvin’s involvement with the experiential education sector began in 2006 when he attended several conferences about the subject. He was so inspired by his experiences that he thought he needed to bring this back home to the Philippines. And in January 2008, he finally did – with the help of friends and allies. Cebu had its first Experiential Education gathering, with resources from USA, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. In 2011, Irvin came across Play for Peace while in a conversation with his friend from Hong Kong. Soon after, he got in touch with the organization, attended another set of conferences, and found himself deeply involved with Play for Peace’s work.
Irvin is the 2014 Award Recipient of the Michael J. Terrien Service Award.
