“Play for Peace provides a way for youth to learn about themselves and interact with others in a way that is not often being offered in others parts of our society.”
Jared just finished as a Peace Corps volunteer in a small community in Southern Morocco working at a local community center in youth and community development. Prior to coming to Morocco I got my degree in Outdoor Education from the University of New Hampshire. While there I worked for a year with at-risk youth from throughout New Hampshire in a residential house. After graduating I moved to Alaska and worked for two years at a program that served primarily Native Alaskans with substance abuse issues and other problems with the law. The program utilized the Outward Bound model and I was in charge of the challenge course and initiatives portion of the program as well as leading sea kayaking and backpacking expeditions. Now in Chicago, Jared is his Masters’ in Social Work.
