“I have come to believe that to pursue ones calling, it is essential to dwell deeper, strengthen spiritual journey and develop awareness of ones own behavior patterns. With Play for Peace I believe can help a great deal, not just for my own quest, but also help others with theirs.”
Priya is currently exploring introducing various forms of expressive arts such as drawing, painting, dance, music, story-telling and theater as a means of learning, but what best describes her now is a full-time mom. She is learning to see what an honor it is to watch a child grow and be a part of it. She is increasingly seeing it as a blessing from God; a gift placed on her hands with love and trust.
Between 2006 and 2010, Priya worked as Visual designer in e-learning industry and had the opportunity to travel to various rural villages and document the stories as part of her volunteer work with Ekta Parishad (EP). EP works with marginalized people in India (Adivasis, Dalits, Harijans) focusing on the “Tripple J” issues – Jal, Jangal aur Jameen (Water, Forest and Land) using Ghandian principles of non-violence and satyagraha.
Priya spent 4 months working with a Tribal residential school in Vishakapattanam. Her work involved teaching English using alternative methods, introducing and learning various arts forms like traditional adivasi songs and dance. She also spent some time writing funding proposals to support their school activities.
