With just a few days left in our #Raise1ToPlayAs1 campaign, we want to take the next few posts to truly reflect on the work some of our clubs have done in 2016.
Despite the conflicts and political, social, and economic issues of the world, our clubs have continued to create a safe place where members of their communities can play, learn, and enjoy. Today, we spotlight our 32 clubs in India, whose events we are constantly covering and whose photos we see popping up everywhere. India has a long history of religious conflict—primarily between Hindus and Muslims—as well as deep-seated issues of gender equality, multicultural awareness, bullying, and class/caste discrimination. This has resulted in violence creeping into neighborhoods, households, and even schools. Whether they were commemorating Earth Day for Compassion Games or hosting a Practice Peace Session with a new group of children, the clubs are making a huge impact on the lives of children in their communities. The clubs hosted a wide variety of workshops. Here are just a few of them:
- Workshop on Advocacy of Child Rights Through Puppetry and Co-operative Games: Day 1 and Days 2 & 3
- Knowing Your Nature: Day 1
- Focus on Peace, Jaipur, India: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 Part 1 & Day 3 Part 2, and Day 4
