2016 In Review: Vietnam

The phrase “small, but mighty” adequately describes Play for Peace’s presence in Vietnam.

With just a few days left in our #Raise1ToPlayAs1 campaign, we continue to reflect on the incredible work our clubs have done across the world just this year. The phrase “small, but mighty” adequately describes Play for Peace’s presence in Vietnam. In a country that is still plagued with the lasting effects of war, it is so important that children growing up there have an opportunity to learn, play, and share experiences.

The A New Day Social Work Club, located in Ho Chi Minh City, is led by students, professionals, and other volunteers who work with children who are marginalized by HIV, who have lost limbs, and who are orphaned or raised in monasteries. The team has also provided assistance to victims of a recent flood by finding food, clothing, and shelter for those who’ve been displaced.

Whether they’re supporting Compassion Games’ Serve the Earth Week, developing and hosting the United Value program, or raising awareness on gender issues at a local university campus, A New Day Club is finding new ways to address the issues and conflicts in its community.
