Rita Nguyen is a Play for Peace trainer and is the inspiring leader of A New Day Play for Peace Club in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She has recently revived Play for Peace in her home city, involving 80 to 100 children in her weekend sessions that include lots of cooperative games and other activities. Read more about Rita's efforts in Vietnam here and here, and read more about this young leader below.
Rita studied economics, but she had the itch to develop educational and therapeutic training sessions after she met and was inspired by Play for Peace trainers Swati, Agyat, John, Sam, and Sarah. She founded A New Day Social Work Group/ Play for Peace Club five years ago in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A New Day works in underprivileged areas with children from the countryside, that are HIV-positive and refugees or immigrants. In 2013, Rita won first prize in a competition to volunteer for ten months in Poland. In Poland, she began organizing Practice Peace Sessions for students from primary school to high school.
Play for Peace trainer John gifted her the book Raccoon Circles which she's used to improve her work. Her motto is "Play for Peace - Play to develop good relationships." The more she plays, the more happiness she gets in her life. She enjoys working with children using Play for Peace and she would like to work full-time as a facilitator to inspire people in her community and connect them.
