Rajasthan Colony YTH Peace Club Inspires During Compassion Games

The group chose to focus on cultural similarities and learned ways to be more curious about others who may seem different.

It is truly humbling to read the reports coming out of New Delhi, knowing that the Play for Peace mission is carried so well there.

The first group we look at is the Rajasthan Colony YTH Peace Club. This club stayed very active during the Compassion Games. They hosted workshops, inspired others in their community, focused on beautifying the environment around them, shared the Play for Peace games with two new communities (who now want to host Practice Peace Sessions) and even partnered with other Play for Peace groups to execute a larger event (but we'll talk about that later).

The group hosted a Peace workshop that focused on the broken relationship between India and Pakistan. With a goal of rebuilding and fostering a more positive relationship, the group talked about why they believed there was a negative relationship. Through discussion, they discovered that much of their ill feelings resulted from information learned from the television and media outlets. The group then chose to focus on cultural similarities and learned ways to be more curious about others who may seem different.

In April's Compassion Games, the group focused on planting and taking care of plants in their community. Before beginning their planting, the Play for Peace group led some games with the students, who were then incredibly excited to help plant. After learning about Earth Day and giving some instructions to the students - take care of the trees, water the plants each day, and evening - the group went to a local park to continue planting. raj1 raj2 raj3 raj5
