#ShareUbuntu: Reminding Us How Easy It Is to Turn Toward Each Other

The #ShareUbuntu campaign is yet another way we can remind ourselves of the importance of compassionate and joyful connection.

Ubuntu is a South African word that can be translated to mean “I am because we are.” The #ShareUbuntu campaign invites people to turn toward each other as opposed to isolating themselves, especially during times we experience as challenges in our communities and our world. Last week, we announced the launch of the #ShareUbuntu campaign, which Play for Peace trainer Lauren “Lolo” Evans wanted to share with the Play for Peace community. We invited our clubs and all of our Play for Peace members to participate by joining with three or more people to form #ShareUbuntu circles. Your group can be large or small; you could do this with your Play for Peace Club or just a few friends.

Simply follow some very simple instructions provided and then share photos of your group’s activity with us on social media with the hashtag #ShareUbuntu and tag @ShareUbuntu. If you haven’t already participated, try it today! Gather your family, friends, coworkers, classmates, or your Play for Peace Club to celebrate the positive connection with a #ShareUbuntu circle. This video provides a glimpse of the experience! There are many ways in which the Play for Peace community brings people together in laughter, compassion, and peace, and the #ShareUbuntu campaign is yet another way we can remind ourselves of the importance of compassionate and joyful connection.
