Sycamore Trails Elementary Celebrates PFP Fundraising Efforts

To celebrate Sycamore Trails Elementary School’s 25th Anniversary and to award the 2016 students for their fundraising efforts, the school received a free Play for Peace session. Sycamore Trails made an outstanding effort to raise funds for Play for Peace’s annual fundraising event, the World Peace Day Glow Run/Walk.
Aidan Hennessy is interviewed on NBC Chicago about his fundraising.
The Play for Peace session occurred on Friday, September 15, in conjunction with the Sycamore Trails Twist-A-Thon Fundraiser. The event usually features each class twisting and dancing while a DJ cranks some tunes. However, for this year’s event, students got a little more active by engaging in Play for Peace activities while the DJ played. Sycamore Trails has a pledge that the children recite every morning. It goes as such: “Today, I promise to be safe, make good choices, be thoughtful, considerate and ready to learn. I am proud to behave the Sycamore way!” Resilience is also a key value instilled into the students that attend Sycamore Trails. The values associated with the pledge were incorporated into the Play for Peace activities performed at the Twist-A-Thon Fundraiser event. It was a day filled with learning, games, music, and of course, fun! Play for Peace would like to thank Sycamore Trails Elementary for being such an incredible support for our annual event World Peace Day Glow Run/Walk. World Peace Day Glow/Run 2017 has already raised more than $37,000, and it is still possible to donate through November 15th. You can donate here to help us reach our goal of $50,000!
