At Play for Peace, we take immense joy in sharing our impact stories with our supporters and communities. These stories testify to the difference we make daily, bringing hope and peace to children and youth worldwide. However, there are some stories we cannot share publicly. The safety and well-being of every Play for Peace member are our top priorities, and in certain situations, sharing specific details can put lives in danger.
The Stories We Can't Tell
There are regions where some of our work is particularly sensitive, and sharing too much information could jeopardize the safety of our participants and mentors. Here are just a few of the places where our impactful work remains under the radar for this very reason:
Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: We are deeply committed to continuing efforts to support children and youth caught in this long-standing conflict, but work on the ground is extremely difficult, and navigating the next steps changes rapidly depending on the situation and safety of the participants.
Afghanistan: One of our incredible mentors works tirelessly with hundreds of schoolchildren despite being persecuted as part of an ethnic genocide. Revealing details of his work could endanger his life and the lives of those he supports. We also help community workers of IDP camps in two cities, reaching over 4000 children and youth.
Ukraine-Poland: The plight of Ukrainian children who have sought refuge in Poland is heart-wrenching. Our programs are making a significant impact, but sharing photos of the children participating in our programs could put them at risk for discrimination and worse. For this reason, you will see their faces covered with fun stickers in photographs.
Your Role in Our Hidden Stories
While we can't share every detail of our work, we want you to know that your support and partnership make a real difference, even in these unseen places. The stories we share on our social media and newsletter are just the tip of the iceberg. Behind the scenes, your contributions also reach areas with such intense conflict that it is unsafe to share those stories publicly.
We hope you remember that for every story we tell, many more are happening in the shadows, where the stakes are too high to bring them to light. Your unwavering support ensures that Play for Peace can continue its mission in the safest and most impactful way possible.
