Why We Walk: Illinois Second Graders Send Messages to Nepal

"You are brave. We are sorry about the earthquake. We want peace!

At the end of the school year last spring, Wayne Elementary School students in Bartlett, Illinois, from Mrs. McVey's 2nd grade class created posters for the children in Nepal after the earthquake. One of the reasons they created these posters is because their classmate, Aidan Hennessy, has been a loyal supporter and fundraiser for Play for Peace for over 3 years! He shared with his class the work Play for Peace was doing in Nepal with it's Partners for Peace in the relief camps. They created these beautiful posters and talked about what had happened in the region. It is so moving to see messages of compassion shared between children across the world. This is just one of the reasons why we Walk for Peace! Thank you Mrs. McVey, Wayne Elementary School, Aidan and all of his classmates for your practicing compassion and send messages of hope to the children of Nepal.
