World Peace Day Celebration: New Dehli

"As we walked and played, we invited people to participate in our sessions. From time to time, we were joined by both children and adults. It was a great experience for our Peace Club's youth to lead sessions in both public and private spaces..."

As you may know, the United Nations declared September 21st  'World Peace Day’. This is a time when we can all come together, in our respective communities, and celebrate a shared vision of peace. Naturally, we at Play For Peace were excited to connect with our global community in an extended nod toward peace. If you read our last blog, you will see some of the wonderful images of the WPDC in Pakistan. This week, we’d like to share some of the activities embraced by our community in New Delhi. Below is an account of the day by Ajat Shatru, one of our Certified Trainers. Ajat works with the Centre for Social Equity & Inclusion (CSEI). This is one of our partner organizations, which aims to assist youth in marginalized communities. With the support of CSEI, we have formed Peace clubs in several areas of India, including Karol Bag, Kusumpur Pahadi, Baljeet Nagar, Janta Majdoor Colony & Rohini.

Here are the events of the day: We thought of going to places where we felt the need to make connections. First, we visited a shelter where women without families live. Afterward, we visited 'Bal Sahyog Kendra’, a children's center situated in the densely populated Karol Bag area. Lastly, we went to a few public places: first to Lake Park and, after that, to India Gate to promote a message of peace. As we walked and played, we invited people to participate in our sessions. From time to time, we were joined by both children and adults. It was a great experience for our Peace Club's youth to lead sessions in both public and private spaces, with both strangers and established friends. Please enjoy the images of WPDC in New Dehli...
