Whether people walked the 1k route or chose the 5k run instead, it was a great day to join our celebration of World Peace Day and to support Play for Peace’s programs in Chicago and around the world.
Donations are continuing to come in for the World Peace Day Fall Run/Walk, which took place on Saturday, September 24, at the Bartlett Nature Center in Bartlett, IL, USA. To date, we have raised more than $42,000, and we’re closing in on our goal of $50,000. We’ve got more photos from the event in our gallery below. As you’ll see, one of the great highlights of the day was our 1k nature walk, which started with a Bubble Run and ended with a foam pit, thanks in part to our friends at Foamalicious. The foam pit was a big hit with our young participants, who also completed a treasure hunt along the 1k trail. Whether people walked the 1k route or chose the 5k run instead, it was a great day to join our celebration of World Peace Day and to support Play for Peace’s programs in Chicago and around the world.
As we have mentioned before, the 250 people who joined us at the Bartlett Nature Center on September 24 were part of Play for Peace’s global celebration of World Peace Day. September was a great month of compassion and peace for our global learning community. We had a record 47 teams participate in the Global Unity Games from September 11 to 21, when we spent 11 days performing acts of compassion. This year, more than 4,000 people participated in our World Peace Day celebrations in 11 countries around the world. We thank all of the members of the Play for Peace community who participated in the Global Unity Games and in celebrating World Peace Day. We also thank the generous donors, sponsors, runners, walkers, and volunteers who helped us make the World Peace Day Fall Run/Walk a great success. We are keeping our event page open in Crowdrise until November, so you can still help us reach our goal of $50,000. No matter how you participated in our events last month, we thank you for supporting Play for Peace and our 2700 members and 59 clubs in 20 countries!
