Bridging Growth and Governance

Our Executive Director, Sarah Gough, recently returned from the 11th Global Peace Summit hosted by Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI) in Lima, Peru — and she’s feeling inspired and re-energized.

With the theme “Reconciling Growth & Governance: Pathways to Responsible Development & Sustainable Resource Management,” the summit brought together peacebuilders, mediators, and changemakers from across the world. Together, they explored how sustainable growth, social equity, and environmental responsibility can coexist and drive collective progress.

Throughout the summit, Sarah joined bilingual conversations in English and Spanish, hearing powerful community stories rooted in justice, compassion, and collaboration. These exchanges offered new insights into how peacebuilding can create harmony not just between people, but also between people and the planet.

As she returns home, Sarah carries forward this renewed energy and vision—fueling Play for Peace’s global mission to help young people and communities transform conflict through play, empathy, and connection.
