Why Community?
Every day, we witness how deeply divided our world can be, by conflict, culture, inequality, and crisis. But across these divides, something extraordinary happens when children come together to play. Barriers fall. Smiles emerge. Hope is restored.
In a recent Play for Peace session in post-conflict Sri Lanka, a young psychology student stood stunned as she watched children from once-divided communities break into laughter during a simple circle game. She had studied trauma and theory for years—but it was play that finally helped her see healing in action.
She later shared:
“I thought I had to be a counselor to help. But in one day with Play for Peace, I saw children connect more deeply than I ever imagined possible.”
Now, she’s leading a youth club of 192 children—proof that when you invest in connection, you grow something powerful.
