The Giving Games, presented by Compassion Games - November 29-December 10

The Giving Games: Youth and Schools Play it Forward is a 12-day global challenge to inspire, develop, and celebrate our shared humanity through acts of generosity and compassion. The Giving Games begins on November 29 – a day known as #GivingTuesday – and goes through December 10, Human Rights Day. Youth, educators, organizations, and intergenerational allies across the globe will play together to foster safe and fulfilling places of learning, helping the next generation develop happy, compassionate, creative, and resilient members of the world. The Giving Games will conclude with a global Wopila, an Oceti Sakowin Thanksgiving Ceremony. Wopila is a Lakota word that means, "Everything around you is a gift and never forget where it comes from - your heart."

Play for Peace is thrilled to take part in The Giving Games as a Champion of Compassion. Along with several other organizations and individuals across the globe, Play for Peace will participate in the Compassion Relay. Each day, the Compassion Torch will be passed via social media to other Champions of Compassion. Play for Peace will receive the torch on Saturday, December 3, and will work to engage our audience and inspire them to play in the Giving Games.

You can play too! There are many ways that individuals and teams can play, from organizing creative service projects to performing acts of kindness. All players will receive a Secret Agent of Compassion mission to use each day of the Giving Games, offering tangible ideas and inspiration for activities as a way to participate in the Games. Players then report on their activities on the Compassion Report Map. The reports of Registered Teams are reflected on the Giving Games Coopetition Scoreboard, displaying the number of volunteers, number of hours served, number of people served, and the monies raised for local or global causes.
