Walk for Peace with your School!

Wayne Elementary School has already raised $250 for their PTW by participating in the Walk for Peace, plus their kids will have a fun, healthy, learning experience!

Since our inaugural year in 2013, nearly half of our participants at the Walk for Peace and World Peace Day Celebration have been children ages 4 to 14. Play for Peace creates an atmosphere of diversity, fun, and inclusion wherever we are. The Walk for Peace provides a wonderful opportunity for children and families to walk together, play together and raise funds that support the work of Play for Peace.

Benefits of participating in the Walk for Peace and World Peace Day Celebration include: Health and Exercise - Children and families walk five kilometers together on a beautiful trail at the Bartlett Nature Center.

Global and Local Citizenship - Adults and children raise funds to support children in the U.S. and 18 other countries, learn more about different countries by trying foods from around the world and meet people from civic organizations in the Bartlett community.

Social Emotional Learning Skills - At the Walk for Peace, children are exposed to cooperative play experiences led by trained facilitators that teach connection, inclusion, caring, and fun in an experiential group setting.

Benefits of forming a team to participate in the Walk for Peace include Camaraderie - Students from your school can walk together with friends, family, and teachers and can make new friends.

Positive Peer Support - Students join together to raise funds for kids in Chicago and around the world, and funds for your school, too!

Show School Spirit - Walkers can wear their school t-shirts or carry signs that show pride in their school.

We know that parents and teachers spend a lot of time finding ways to support local schools. Play for Peace offers the following incentives to schools that form teams for the 2015 Walk for Peace: When you help Play for Peace, you can also help your school! • If you recruit at least 10 students who raise at least $50 each for Play for Peace, we’ll share 5% of all the funds your students raise with your school! • For every 10 students who register for the Walk for Peace, Play for Peace will bring a free one-hour Practice Peace Session to a class at your school. Remember, each student, parent, or faculty member from your team must register separately on the Walk for Peace page at www.crowdrise.com/2015walkforpeace.

Promoting Your Team Once you have registered and set up your fundraiser for Walk for Peace, remember to have everyone let their friends, family, and coworkers know you’re walking as a team and invite them to visit their fundraising pages. Hang up Walk for Peace posters around your school. •Send flyers out to parents and teachers via email or snail mail. •Send everyone the link to Crowdrise with instructions for registering. •Offer incentives for students and teachers to sign up - offer a free lunch or a casual day! •Offer a prize for your school’s top student walker and top faculty walker.

•Have a Play for Peace representative give a presentation at your school. Once you have registered and set up your fundraiser for Walk for Peace, remind your team members to let their friends, family, and coworkers know they’re walking and invite them to visit their fundraising pages.
