MEMBER SINCE

1990

I had started working in the field of experience and adventure education via educational programs of the Chicago Teacher's Center (now titled the Center for College Access and Success) of Northeastern Illinois University. Through these programs and our partner schools, we initiated "Play for Peace" in Chicago. I helped plan, lead, and facilitate Play for Peace Leadership Camps with high school youth, and we connected students from different schools and different ethnic backgrounds together in play. Programs and jobs have shifted, but I remain committed to PFP. Last year (2022), we had a Play for Peace Club at the school where I currently work on the South Side of Chicago. Our high school students, together with two elementary school groups of differing ethnic backgrounds, came together in play. To me, there is nothing more valuable than the laughter of children, and I believe all kids deserve to play. I am pleased to have a small part in that in this part of the world.
